A 911 call was made about gunfire near Transit Tech Career and Technical Education High School in East New York around 10:11 a.m., authorities said.

The school, which is located at 1 Wells St., was in a brief lockdown period but police were not sure whether gunshots were actually fired.

No one was shot during the alleged incident. The gunfire was not school related and all students and staff were safe, City Department of Education spokeswoman Jenna Lyle told the New York Post.

“The safety of our students and staff is our absolute top priority,” she said to the Post. “This school went into a brief shelter-in, which has now been lifted, in response to a non-school incident in the community.”
