NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A retired NYPD officer was repeatedly shot over the weekend, according to a report from the New York Post.
According to the outlet, the 30-year-old former police officer was in the "wrong place at the wrong time" and leaving a party at around 11:30 p.m. at an event space called The View Rooftop located at 160 Van Brunt Street in Red Hook, Brooklyn, when the incident occurred.
Sources told the New York Post that the former officer heard gunshots then realized she'd been hit three times in the torso.
Officials believe the gunfire came after a group of men were denied entry to the party, causing an argument to ensue.
The outlet noted that the suspects fled the scene where officials later recovered five shell casings.
The officer was among the nearly two dozen people shot over the weekend amid an uptick in gun violence across the city.
An investigation is ongoing.
