Revel to launch monthly e-bike rental service in March

Revel E-bike

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Electric scooter-sharing company Revel on Tuesday announced its plans to launch e-bike rentals next month.

For $99 a month, a battery-powered bicycle, battery, and charger will be delivered directly to the customer’s door in addition to the company's existing moped-share system.

The subscription also includes any maintenance issues including flat tire fixes, loose chains repairs, or brake upkeep which can be called back to the company, which promises to send a repair technician or replacement e-bike within 24 hours.

“It provides you all the benefits of personal e-bike ownership without the hassle or cost of repairs,” said Anne Emig, Revel’s head of mobility.

Revel will also supply a bike lock and educational material to help it subscribers navigate any non-bike-friendly city streets.

“It also is great for someone who might be contemplating purchasing an e-bike but just isn’t quite ready to spend the upfront costs,” Emig added.

Additionally, the company plans to launch electric car-charging stations as part of its “mission to electrify cities,” CEO Frank Reig told The New York Post.

Revel’s moped rental program shuttered its NYC operations in July following a string of accidents and also faces multiple lawsuits from users over alleged scooter injuries.
