NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A delivery worker was shot and wounded in Queens on Tuesday night after a dispute over a fender bender spiraled out of control, police said.
The 28-year-old victim, who delivers food for Uber, was on a moped just after 9 p.m. when he bumped into the back of a red Mini Cooper at 38th Street and 21st Avenue in Astoria.
Witnesses said the Mini Cooper suddenly stopped, causing the deliveryman to hit the rear bumper with his moped.
After the collision, one of three people inside the Mini Cooper got out and started screaming at the deliveryman. That person eventually pulled out a gun and shot the worker in the arm, police said.
The victim was transported to NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst in stable condition.
All three of the Mini Cooper occupants fled in the vehicle and were still being sought by police on Wednesday.
