NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A shoplifter bit and slashed a man and woman who tried to stop him from stealing merchandise at a Family Dollar store in the Bronx on Monday, police said as they searched for a suspect.

The NYPD released images Tuesday of the man they’re after in the violent robbery. He’s believed to be between 18 and 21 years old.

The two victims—a 22-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman—were inside the store at 1227 Webster Ave. in Concourse Village around 2:35 p.m. when the man started stealing items, police said.

It's unclear if the pair worked at the store, but they attempted to stop him from stealing the items, causing him to attack them, according to cops.

He allegedly bit the man on the arm and finger, then slashed the woman on the right arm with a knife.

The suspect was last seen fleeing the location with the stolen items, police said.

The two victims were transported by EMS to an area hospital in stable condition.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
