NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A 3-year-old girl was hospitalized after plummeting from an apartment window in the Bronx on Wednesday—and scaffolding may have saved her from a more severe fall.

LISTEN TO 1010 WINS

The girl plunged from a third-floor window on Sheridan Avenue, near E. 172nd Street, in the Mount Eden section around 7:40 p.m.

The girl fell one story, with scaffolding on the second floor breaking her fall, according to police.

She suffered no identifiable injuries and was transported to New York-Presbyterian Hospital for further evaluation.

A witness told 1010 WINS that he heard a thud and climbed onto a car to find the girl on the scaffolding. She was bleeding from her mouth but was able to get up on her own, he said.

PIX11 reported that the girl’s grandfather was looking after her at the time and frantically searched for her after he lost sight of her.

Police don’t suspect criminality in the case as the investigation continues.
