PASSAIC, N.J. (WCBS 880) -- A second body was reportedly found Thursday in the Passaic River less than a day after another was found.

NorthJersey.com reported that Passaic’s fire chief told them “we have a body” that was found near Kearny.

The body was extracted from the water after a sizable effort by first responders in the area, including some workers from Kearny and Newark, according to the report.

A body has also been found in the river Wednesday, several days after the remnants of Hurricane Ida flooded the area.

The discovery comes after Passaic residents Nidhi Rana, 18, and her friend Ayush Rana, 21, have been missing for days.

Witnesses told NJ.com that the two tried to exit their vehicle as floodwaters from Ida inundated it around last Wednesday.

Neither body has been identified yet, according to the report.

Passaic Mayor Hector Lora said that their deserted vehicle was later found blocks from the river.

Not long before the first body was discovered, Passaic Fire Chief Patrick Trentacost said the department was expanding its search operations to include Essex and Hudson County — with more search and rescue teams supporting their efforts.
