NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – Police released surveillance photos Thursday of a moped rider who they say struck and injured an NYPD officer during a traffic stop in Queens this month.

The officer tried to stop the moped rider for recklessly driving on Junction Boulevard, near 37th Avenue in North Corona, at 2:20 p.m. on Dec. 8—but the suspect refused to pull over for the cop, police said.

While he was fleeing, he drove into the officer, slicing open his left leg, according to police.

The suspect sped away and was last seen fleeing eastbound on 37th Avenue, police said.

The officer was transported by EMS to an area hospital, where he was treated for trauma to his leg. He was listed in stable condition.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
