NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A bicyclist who fell off her bike was struck and killed by a tractor-trailer truck near Brooklyn’s Prospect Park on Wednesday morning, police said.
The 25-year-old DUMBO woman, Kala Santiago, was traveling eastbound on Parkside Avenue when she fell off her bike near Parade Place around 7 a.m.
After falling off the bike, she was run over by the truck, which was also traveling eastbound, police said.
Santiago was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the Daily News, Santiago was a mom of two young children who worked as a barista at a bakery where she was headed when she was killed.
The truck driver waited for police to arrive and has not been charged.
Police said there was no apparent criminality in the crash as the investigation continues.
