WAYNE, N.J. (1010 WINS) — A fatal car crash that killed a Staten Island man in northern New Jersey on Monday is under investigation, the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office said Tuesday.

Officials said cops responded at around 8:11 p.m. to the intersection of Valley Road and Ratzer Road in Wayne, New Jersey, where a single vehicle had crashed.

Upon arrival, it was determined that the driver, identified as 28-year-old Jorge Jaimez Romero of Staten Island, veered off the road in a 2006 Dodge Caravan and struck a utility pole.

Authorities said the initial collision caused the vehicle to spin and hit another utility pole. Romero was pronounced dead at 8:26 p.m.

His cause of death is unknown at this time. The investigation remains ongoing.

The Prosecutor's Office asks anyone with additional information about this incident to contact their tips line at 1-877-370-PCPO.
