NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — The Staten Island sex offender who threatened to kill protesters, politicians and law enforcement officers on social media in the run-up to and after the 2020 election and urged others to act was sentenced to three years in prison for possessing an illegal firearm, the Justice Department said Wednesday.

Maiorana, 55, allegedly used social media to make several death threats and encourage others to do the same, including calling on his followers to gun down Democrats who were "rejoicing" over the presidential election results.

"[I]t has come to the point where pipe bombs need to be thrown into these mobs of potentially non-violent violent protesters," Maiorana wrote in a post on Oct. 19, 2020, according to prosecutors.

On Nov. 5, 2020, he allegedly posted, "The carnage needs to come in the form of extermination of anyone that claims to be democrat…as well as their family members."

Following President Joe Biden's projected victory, three days later, he appeared to refer to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer's statement on the Supreme Court following the death of late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, allegedly writing, "As the Jew Senator from Jew York said, nothing is off the table."

He added, "The Turner Diaries must come to life. We blow up the FBI building for real." "The Turner Diaries" is a racist, anti-Semitic dystopian novel from the 1970s that is popular with white nationalist and neo-Nazi groups and inspired the Oklahoma City bombing, among other attacks.

"All right thinking people need to storm the streets while these scumbags are rejoicing and start blowing them away," Maiorana allegedly wrote around Nov. 8.

Prosecutors said Maiorana has a previous felony conviction from Pennsylvania for statutory sexual assault, stemming from a sexual relationship he had with a 13-year old that began when the defendant was 38. As a result, he was barred from owning guns or ammunition as a level one sex offender.

The department said an investigation resulted in the execution of a court-ordered search warrant of Maiorana's home where members of the FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force recovered a semiautomatic .45 caliber Glock handgun, two magazines loaded with .45 caliber ammunition, .22 caliber ammunition, and "ghost gun" parts for a .22 caliber firearm.

A Taser, a crossbow, an expandable baton, a skull balaclava and a copy of the "Anti-Government Movement Guidebook" were also seized.

"Our nation is facing a fatal epidemic of racism and hatred, and this Office and our law enforcement partners are working tirelessly to remove the illegal guns that turn these social media trolls into dangerous criminals, with the capacity to do irreparable harm to our communities," said U.S. Attorney Breon Peace.
