NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — In celebration of spring, the start of baseball season and the clinking of glasses that comes with it, a SoHo brewpub is giving away free beer until the World Series for anyone that gets a tattoo of its logo on Friday night.
Announced last week on its social media, Torch & Crown Brewing Company is inviting customers to become part of “the boldest loyalty program in hospitality,” which it dubbed “the eternal flame club.”
“A bit of a way to get a little nuts,” co-founder and CEO of the brewpub John Dantzler told 1010 WINS. “Coupons just felt kind of lame.”
The program perks include up to two draft beers per visit and a case of 24 beers every month until a new 2025 World Champion is crowned in October.
“But your commitment? That’s forever!” the company quipped on social media.
Those wishing to participate must attend Torch & Crown Brewing Company’s “Bat Flip Day” event on Friday and get the logo tattooed by an artist from Uplift Tattoo (paid for by the company) to become part of the exclusive club. Interested people can sign up with an artist on-site, or online.
Dantzler told 1010 WINS on Thursday afternoon that 15 people have already signed up.
“Anyone crazy enough to ink a torch permanently on their body deserves some free beer,” he said.
Other New York City-inspired flash tattoos will also be available at the Bat Flip Day event, at the recipient’s cost.
“It’s going to be fun,” one artist named Ezze told 1010 WINS.
Bat Flip Day begins at noon and runs until 11 p.m. with tickets around $18. They include a souvenir plastic bat, 20-ounce Bat Flip pour and a hot dog. The event was inspired by the brewer’s Bat Flip Spring Ale.
Torch & Crown Brewing Company is located at 12 Vandam Street, near Sixth Avenue.
