NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A subway attacker assaulted multiple people with a wooden plank on the R line in Queens, including two women who were bashed in the throat and neck as they waited for a train, police said Thursday.
The NYPD released an image of the young male suspect who's wanted in three attacks over 15 minutes last Thursday afternoon.
The first assault was at 12:30 p.m. at the Grand Avenue–Newtown station in Elmhurst. A 59-year-old woman was waiting for an R train when the suspect held a wooden plank out of the moving train and struck her in the throat with it, according to cops.
The victim suffered minor injuries and was taken by EMS to NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst in stable condition.
The attacker remained on the R train, and about 10 minutes later, he threw a piece of wood at two men who were waiting on the southbound platform at the Elmhurst Avenue station. No injuries were reported in that attack, police said.
Just several minutes later at the Roosevelt Avenue/74th Street station in Jackson Heights, the same suspect whacked a 56-year-old woman in the head as she waited on the platform, according to police.
The victim was taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst, where she required multiple stitches for lacerations to her head.
The suspect stayed on the train and remains at large.
