NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- A Queens subway rider required stitches to his head this week after he was severely beaten and robbed by a man who he'd asked to stop vaping on a train.
The NYPD released an image Friday of the suspect in Tuesday afternoon's attack in Astoria.
The 36-year-old victim was riding a southbound R train near the 36th Street station around 4 p.m. when a man in his 20s started vaping next to him, police said.
He asked the vaper to stop, leading to an argument on the train.
The vaper punched the victim in the face, and when the victim got off at the 36th Street station, he continued to assault him on the platform, according to police.
He struck the victim in the head multiple times and then stole $200 cash from his pocket before fleeing the area, police said.
The victim suffered a laceration and was taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst, where he required stitches to close the wound.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
