Suspect impersonates NYPD officer with man in van to rob 27-year-old in Queens: police

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The NYPD is investigating a robbery that occurred in Queens last month where one suspect allegedly impersonated an NYPD officer with another man driving a van and fled the location, authorities said.

At approximately 1 a.m., on Saturday, May 22, two men inside of a white utility van in the vicinity of Review Avenue and Greenpoint Avenue in Long Island City forced a 27-year-old man to stop his scooter, police said.


Once stopped, one of the suspects identified himself as a police officer and asked the victim for his identification.

The suspect took the victim's wallet and the two men drove away in the van, authorities said.

According to police, the vehicle was last observed traveling southbound on Van Dam Street.

The first individual is described as a Black male, black who wore a black baseball cap, a black hooded sweater and had a silver shield around his neck and a black handgun in his waistband.

The second individual is described as a Black male.
