NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A man was charged with raping another man on an uptown 1 train in Greenwich Village, police said Thursday, hours after they released surveillance footage of the alleged rapist.

Mohammad Azeem, 36, was arrested in Midtown on Thursday and charged with first-degree rape, first-degree sex abuse and forcible touching in connection with last Saturday morning's attack. Police said he's a resident of the Atlantic Armory Shelter in Brooklyn.

The 27-year-old victim was aboard the train around 4:15 a.m. when his attacker made sexual remarks and demanded his money, police said.

As the train was in the area of the Christopher Street–Stonewall station, the attacker sexually assaulted the victim, according to police.

The assailant fled at the Christopher Street stop before EMS arrived and transported the victim to Northwell Greenwich Village Hospital. He was in stable condition.
