NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Police on Tuesday released photos of a man wanted for a brazen daylight robbery of a 70-year-old woman in Astoria last week.

It took place at approximately 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 1, in the vicinity of Crescent Street and Broadway, officials said.

According to police, the woman was walking when she was approached from behind by the suspect who forcibly ripped a necklace off her neck.

The suspect then fled the scene on foot, heading westbound on 31st Drive.

The victim sustained minor injuries but refused medical attention at the scene.

The suspect is believed to be between 18 and 25 years old. Police said he has a tattoo on his right arm and was last seen wearing a black shirt, black pants, white shoes, and a white baseball hat.

Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS.
