NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police arrested a teen caught with a loaded gun while allegedly shoplifting at a Nordstrom store in Manhattan last week, according to officials.
On May 8, security stopped 19-year-old Ruiz Martinez at the Nordstrom department store located at West 57th Street in Midtown, authorities said.
The guards took Martinez into a security office and allegedly discovered a firearm in his backpack, officials said.
According to a criminal complaint, the teen attempted to grab the gun after one of the guards placed it on the table.
The security officers were able to keep the gun away from Martinez, who is believed to be a member of the Morris Avenue YG Gang, the complaint added.
“I will shoot you, 5-4-3-2-1,” Martinez, allegedly threatened, Manhattan prosecutors said.
Martinez was allegedly carrying a loaded .38 Colt revolver when he tried to grab a pair of Nike Air Vapor sneakers, which retail for approximately $220, sources told the New York Post.
Martinez has two prior arrests in gun cases in the past year, and a 2018 sealed gun arrest, according to court documents.
Court records show that Martinez was held on $50,000 bail.
The incident occurred the same afternoon and just blocks away from the shooting in Times Square where three innocent bystanders, including a 4-year-old girl, were shot when a gunman opened fire during a dispute between several men.
