NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — A 16-year-old boy on a motorcycle died in a crash with an MTA bus in East Elmhurst, Queens on Tuesday night, according to police.
The fatal crash happened around 11 p.m. on Astoria Boulevard when the bus was turning onto 101st Street. The teen was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities suspect the teenager may have run a red light while heading east. Additionally, he was not wearing a helmet when the accident happened.
The bus driver remained at the site of the crash and fully cooperated with arriving officers and investigators.
Notably, the MTA bus was empty of passengers at the time of the incident.
As of now, no charges have been filed related to the crash.
