NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A group of teens hurled bottles and traffic cones at a Jewish man in Williamsburg in one of the latest acts of antisemitism in the city, police said Thursday.

The NYPD's Hate Crime Task Force released images Thursday of the five suspects they're searching for in the assault on the night of June 6. Most of them are believed to be between the ages of 14 and 18 years old, police said.

The 41-year-old victim was walking at Lorimer Street and Meserole Street at 11:45 p.m. when the teens threw bottles and traffic cones at him, according to police, who said the teens made antisemitic remarks during the attack.

The victim suffered minor injuries. He declined further medical attention from EMS at the scene.

Antisemitic hate crimes were up 150% in the five boroughs in May, compared to May 2023, according to the latest NYPD statistics. Just last week in Brooklyn, red paint was splattered on the home of the Jewish director of the Brooklyn Museum.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
