NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Amid a last-ditch effort to save a closing Broadway show, Will Smith and Jada Pickett Smith are buying tickets to an entire performance.
The play, which opened on Dec. 1, consists of a series of sketches and asks, "What if the U.S. government attempted to solve racism by offering Black Americans one-way plane tickets to Africa?"
Now, because of poor ticket sales, the critically acclaimed show at the Belasco Theater is set to close on Sunday.

Jordan E. Cooper, the writer and a star of the show, told the Hollywood Reporter that the Smiths learned about the show and its demise after Pinkett Smith approached the show's co-producer and her friend Lena Waithe about assisting.
"This is the kind of activism that is just so greatly appreciated," Cooper said. "That's when you put your money where your mouth is."
Pinkett Smith's spokesperson also confirmed the buyout to the outlet.
Cooper also praised the pair on Instagram over the weekend.
"We are still fighting," he said in his caption Saturday. "Thank you @willsmith and @jadapinkettsmith for believing in this work and joining the fight!"
