NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Police caught up with a group of thieves just minutes after they snatched a pair of Givenchy handbags from a high-end Manhattan store last weekend.
According to officials, at around 3:45 p.m. on Saturday, two men entered Bergdorf Goodman and walked out with two Givenchy bags worth nearly $4,000.
Authorities said the pair got into a gray Jeep Cherokee driven by a third suspect and sped away but were caught about 15 minutes later.
Police caught up with the crew about a mile and a half from the Fifth Avenue store at East 37th Street and Park Avenue.
The stolen bags along with other merchandise that are part of an ongoing investigation were found inside the SUV, officials said.
Police arrested 24-year-old Jamal Johns, of Newark, identified as one of the two suspects who took the bags from the retailer.
He was charged with burglary, possession of burglar tools, and possession of stolen property, officials said.
Authorities also arrested 32-year-old Jessica Lane, also of Newark, and driver Anthony McFarland, 36, of Brooklyn.
They were charged with grand larceny and possession of stolen property, police said.
