NEW YORK (WCBS 880) – A man was beaten by three young people as he confronted them for stealing his phone at a Queens subway station last week, police said.
The NYPD released surveillance images Monday of the three suspects, who are believed to be in their late teens or early 20s.
Police said the 44-year-old victim was walking through the mezzanine of the Roosevelt Avenue/74th Street station in Jackson Heights last Wednesday morning when he was approached by the three males around 7:20 a.m.
The trio snatched the man's cellphone from his hands and fled the station, with the man giving chase, police said.
The man confronted the group at the corner of Broadway and Roosevelt Avenue, where they attacked him, according to police.
The group punched and kicked the man repeatedly before taking off with his cellphone, police said.
The victim suffered a laceration and swelling to his face. He was transported to Elmhurst Hospital in stable condition.
Police said two of the suspects were wearing orange hooded sweat suits, while the third suspect was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and light blue jeans.
