NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — A man shot his ex-girlfriend and her teen son before turning the gun on himself in an East Harlem domestic violence incident on Thursday afternoon, and the alleged shooter is in critical condition.
It happened at about 12:30 p.m. at 165 East 112th St., near Lexington Avenue, inside a NYCHA Johnson Houses building.
Police said that the victims were a 40-year-old woman and a 19-year-old man, both of whom are stable, and a 45-year-old man who is in critical condition.

Sources tell 1010 WINS/WCBS 880 that the 45-year-old man was the shooter and the woman’s ex-boyfriend, and that the shooting occurred in the wake of her breaking off the relationship.
The man shot off five total rounds. He first shot the 19-year-old twice, then his ex-girlfriend twice, before turning the gun and shooting himself in the head.
EMS rushed the alleged shooter to NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem, where he remains in critical condition. Sources told 1010 WINS/WCBS 880 that he is well-known to the NYPD.
WARM (We All Really Matter), an NYC nonprofit organization dedicated to helping survivors of domestic violence in every stage of their journey, was called to the scene.
“When you’re in a domestic violence relationship, and when you are trying to get out or escape or leave, that is the most dangerous time," said Stephanie McGraw, founder and CEO of WARM.
Citizen App footage from the location shows media personnel, residents and law enforcement outside the building as EMTs transport someone on a stretcher.
The investigation is ongoing.
