NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — After Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith announced plans to buy out a performance of the Broadway show “Ain’t No Mo,” Tyler Perry said he’s stepping up and doing the same to try and prevent its closure.

"Ain't No Mo" is scheduled to end on Dec. 18 following poor ticket sales. The show received a closing notice just a week after opening.

The performance asks the question: “What if the U.S. government attempted to solve racism by offering Black Americans one-way plane tickets to Africa?” and was created by Jordan E. Cooper, who also stars in it.

Cooper, who also created "The Ms. Pat Show" on BET+, was praised by Perry who called him an “incredibly talented young man” in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter.

Perry has an equity stake in BET+ and many shows produced by the network. BET is also a co-producer of "Ain’t No Mo."

Though a rep for Perry confirmed the buyout to the Hollywood Reporter, the exact date and how the tickets will be distributed is still being determined.
