The emails warned that if officers failed to get vaccinated by Friday, they would be fired within 10 days, Gothamist reported.

The appeals process began late last year when the first wave of decisions was made on whether to grant religious or health exemptions to unvaccinated city employees.

Based on anonymous accounts from officers, some notices were distributed today, but others are still waiting on appeal decisions.

NYPD employees filed 6,170 vaccination exemption requests, exceeding the rate of requests at other city agencies by at least three times, according to Gothamist.

Mayor Eric Adams has refused to reveal how many of these requests have been approved.

Only 36 NYPD employees were fired in January, when the first wave of dismissals took place, but many could be waiting for appeals to resolve.
