NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – The Vessel at Hudson Yards will reopen this week to groups of two or more people after the popular Manhattan tourist attraction was closed for months following several suicides.

The Vessel, which has been closed since January, will reopen Friday, according to the Hudson Yards website. Ticket sales resume Wednesday at noon.

“Admission is restricted to groups of two persons or more,” the reservations site says.

The new rule was made after three people died by suicide at the 150-foot-tall structure, according to the New York Post.

“Vessel was envisioned as a shared, immersive design experience. Requiring visitors to attend in groups of two or more significantly enhances the safety of the experience,” a rep for Related Companies, the owner of Hudson Yards, told the Post.

Security at the site will also be tripled and National Suicide Prevention Lifeline messaging will be on signage at the entrance as well as on tickets, part of a partnership with Lady Gaga’s mental health nonprofit Born This Way, according to the report.

“Enhanced guest engagement and screening procedures to detect high-risk behaviors” are also being implemented, the rep for Related Companies said.

If you or someone you know needs help call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 800-273-8255 or reach out to the Crisis Text Line by texting 'Home' to 741741.
