NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A thief robbed a man of $20,000 in neck chains at gunpoint in broad daylight before taking off in a stolen minivan in the Bronx, police said.
The NYPD released surveillance video of the July 9 robbery on Friday as they search for a suspect.
Police said the 24-year-old victim had just left a barbershop at E. 174th Street and Rosedale Avenue in the Soundview section around 4 p.m. when he was approached by the robber.
The thief pulled out a gun and demanded the victim's neck chains, threatening to shoot him if he didn't hand them over, police said.
The victim complied, giving the man two chains worth $20,000.

The robber then got in a Honda Odyssey—which police said had been stolen—and took off. The minivan was later found abandoned at Bruckner Boulevard and Zerega Avenue in Unionport.
Police said no shots were fired during the robbery and the victim was not injured.
