NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The NYPD is searching for a man who is wanted in an attempted rape that happened inside a Queens building over the weekend, authorities said.
The incident occurred at around 3:30 a.m. on Sunday, January 23, inside of a multi-unit residential building in the vicinity of 190th Street and Woodhull Avenue in the Hollis neighborhood.
Accordiing to police, a 38-year-old woman was returning home and entered the lobby when the suspect, who was already inside the lobby, slapped the victim's buttocks as she walked into the elevator.
The suspect then followed the victim into the elevator and began punching and kicking her in the face, officials said.
The suspect said he was going to rape the victim and then forcibly removed her shirt and bra, according to police.
He then took the victim's iPhone 10 Plus and fled on foot.
The victim suffered pain, bruising and swelling to her face and was transported in stable condition to Jamaica Hospital.
The investigation by the Queens Special Victims Squad is ongoing.
