NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The NYPD on Wednesday released body camera footage showing the moment a man dancing in Times Square pulled a gun on two police officers.
Philadelphia resident Dominique Francis, 28, started blasting music from his car speakers near West 46th Street and Seventh Avenue around 2:20 a.m. on Sunday, the Daily News reported.
When a pair of NYPD officers approached him, Francis walked over to them and pulled a gun out of his pocket, body camera footage released by the department on Wednesday shows.
“Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, back it down,” one of the officers can be heard saying as he points his gun at Francis.
Francis immediately drops to the ground and drops the gun, the video shows. Police officers then handcuff and arrest him.
“Officers face life-threatening situations daily, sometimes with mere seconds to react,” the NYPD wrote in a tweet sharing the footage. “This suspect took a gun out of his pocket, feet away from officers. Thankfully, it ended just as many other encounters do, with an arrest & a gun recovered safely without any injuries.”
Francis has been charged with gun possession and menacing, the Daily News reported. His attorney information wasn’t immediately available Wednesday.
