Washington Square Park worker assaulted by trio over removing picnic table

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A Washington Square Park supervisor was beat up by three men Friday after he confronted them for removing a picnic table, police said.

The incident occurred between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. when the three men beat up the victim after he told the trio not to remove the table from the park's famed fountain, according to cops.

The park worker was taken to Beth Israel Hospital in stable condition.

After the assault, the three men fled the park. Police are still looking for the suspects with one described as wearing a baseball cap, white shirt and black pants. The other two suspects had on black t-shirts.
