NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- Mayor Eric Adams took a cold plunge at "the world's first holistic psychedelic wellness center" in New York City.
Adams posted video Wednesday to the @NYCMayor Instagram account showing a January visit to FloLo Holistic in Midtown, where he took part in "cold therapy," a practice promoted by Dutch motivational speaker Wim Hof.
Video shows the mayor wearing yellow trunks as he dips in the ice bath under the guidance of an instructor.
FloLo Holistic also posted a testimonial-like video of the mayor to its Instagram account.
"My name is Eric Adams, and I took the deep, cold dive for 90 seconds," the mayor says in the video.
"It was intense, but I also learned how to breathe or really benefit from the breath work," the mayor said. "Allow us to deal with stress. Allow us to just reach that equilibrium that we all seek. This is one of the many journeys. As we say, we are lifelong learners. It is not about how you build your business but how do you build your body, how do you build your mind, how do you be kind to yourself?"
"It's a great experience," Adams said. "I enjoyed it so much, and the joy is that this is only the beginning. There are many more layers to how to continue to become the better person that we all desire. It starts with breath."
This is just the latest health practice adopted by Adams, who has referred to himself as the "Zen mayor," and who is known for meditating, eating a mostly plant-based diet, wearing energy stone bracelets and drinking morning smoothies.
