NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- It's time to "Play ball!" and there is some great grub and equally tasty drinks to choose from at Yankees Stadium this 2024 season.
Under the direction of new Executive Chef Robert Flowers, the Yankees and Legends Hospitality have created a unique lineup of menu options for visitors to enjoy.
"You need the basics, of course, when you come to a ballgame. We're always going to be selling hotdogs and chicken tenders and fries," Chef Flowers said at the preview of the stadium's concessions. "When you come to the ball park it's no longer just about the people on the field, it's also about the people in the concession stands making great food."
The menu items will be available starting with the Yankees’ home opener against the Blue Jays on April 5 at 1:05 p.m. and feature both new and returning vendors including Chef Christian Petroni, Bobby Flay’s "Bobby’s Burgers," Lobel’s, Fuku and even Mister Softee.
CHEF CHRISTIAN PETRONI (Sections 125, 310)
Leading the pack is Bronx native Christian Petroni. A regular on the Food Network, Chef Petroni has become one of the most prevalent chefs in Italian cuisine in the NYC area. This year he's introducing his meatballs and cheesy garlic bread to his beloved Yankees stadium, making this 2024 season extra special for the chef.
"I grew up down the street from Yankees stadium and to be back in the Bronx, and out of all places Yankees stadium, it blows my mind," Petroni said. "When I got invited back I said, 'Yo, I'd love to fry my mom's meatballs in extra virgin olive oil, the way that I used to like them,' and that's how I prepare them here."
The meatballs are fried in extra virgin olive oil, a recipe inspired by his mother, alongside a cheesy garlic bread that Petroni describes as "nona-level."
"I get to put out cheesy garlic bread with bread that's from the Bronx, garlic butter that we're making ourselves at the stadium, real parmigiana, and Sicilian oregano," Petroni adds.
MAC TRUCK (Section 223)
Mac Truck, which specializes in selling premium Mac & Cheese has added a Bacon Ranch Mac & Cheese to it's menu this season made with bacon crumbles, butter toasted breadcrumbs, and buttermilk ranch.
99 Burger (Section 107)
Back by popular demand, fans can enjoy the 99 Burger for a second season at Yankee Stadium. The burger, named after Yankees player and team captain Aaron Judge, is made up of two 4 oz. American Wagyu beef patties, new school American cheese, caramelized onions, dill pickles and a secret sauce on a brioche bun. This year, there are no limits on the number of burgers being sold per game.
MIGHTY QUINN’S (Section 132)
Mighty Quinn's BBQ added a chipotle BBQ chicken sandwich to their menu. Made with hand-pulled, slow-smoked chicken glazed with house-made chipotle BBQ Sauce, and served with an optional assortment of pickled veggies and slaw it's sure to become a fan favorite.
STREETBIRD BY MARCUS SAMUELSSON (Section 112)
Award-winning Chef Marcus Samuelsson will debut two items this season. M’s Spicy Fried Chicken Sandwich - made with a spicy, crispy chicken breast, pickles, spicy aioli on a toasted bun and M’s Spicy Chicken Wings made with Brown sugar babe sauce and topped with ranch.
CITY WINERY (Section 105)
Porchetta Sandwich is the new go-to item at City Winery. The sandwich is made with porchetta, broccoli rabe, provolone, calabrian aioli and arugula on a brioche bun.
FUKU (Sections 109, 213)
Due to popular demand, Fuku, the fried chicken joint from chef David Chang, has added a second concession location. This year, they debut their Sweet & Spicy Chicken Sando - a crispy habanero-brined chicken breast with a sweet and spicy glaze, pickle, on a potato roll along with their Sweet & Spicy Chicken Tenders which are made with a sweet and spicy glaze.
LOBEL’S (Section 134)
BBQ filet tip loaded tater tots are new to the menu at Lobel's. Their crispy tater tots are made with Lobel’s seasoning, paired with BBQ filet tips and topped with cheddar cheese and crispy onions.
SWEET SPOT BOWL (Section 311)
A delicious option for vegetarians can be found at Sweet Spot Bowl. The bowl is made with sweet plantains, rice, black beans, pickled onions, cilantro sauce, and Melinda’s Hot Sauces.
MISTER SOFTEE (Sections 110, 125, 205, 224, 305, 318, Bleachers)
The Yankees are bringing in the nostalgia with a NYC staple - Mister Softee soft serve ice cream in their vanilla, chocolate, and the classic twist options.
BLUE BUNNY (Sections 125, 318)
Blue Bunny ice cream will be serving their hand-dipped ice cream in a variety of flavors including chocolate, vanilla, chocolate chip cookie dough, cookies & cream, cotton candy, and even offers a non-dairy vanilla option. There will also be frozen dessert prepackaged Blue Bunny novelty products to-go available.
ZEPPOLI (Section 127)
Get your fried zeppoli fix this year at Yankees Stadium. Made with powdered sugar, cannoli cream, chocolate sauce, strawberry sauce. The best part is that they are served in a souvenir Yankees helmet.
ALCOHOLIC DRINKS:
Cooling off with refreshing drinks will be easy this season. Try the Yankees' new signature brew or opt to choose from a new variety of margaritas available this year.
SIGNATURE YANKEE STADIUM BEER (Section 105 and Kona Bleachers Bar)
Fans can enjoy Goose Island’s "New York Legendary Ale," the crisp, aromatic and fruity golden ale with brilliant clarity. It has a slightly sweet flavor and is brewed in Baldwinsville, N.Y. It will be available in draught and the 25oz. cans can be purchased beginning in May.
SPECIALTY DRINKS (All Stadium bar and social gathering areas)
Fans will not only be able to enjoy the classic Stadium Margarita, but now there will be five additional margarita flavors to choose from:
Bleacher Peacher: Jim Beam Peach Bourbon, Sweet Tea, Fresh Lemon
Bullpen Buck: Jim Beam Bourbon, Lime Juice, Ginger Beer, Fresh Lime
