NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A 30-year-old woman was killed, and her husband was wounded, after robbers reportedly stabbed them in a mugging at Pelham Bay Park in the Bronx on Wednesday night.
Anthonella Contreras Linarez, 30, of the Bronx, was pronounced dead at Montefiore New Rochelle Hospital, where her husband took her following the stabbing around 8 p.m.
She was stabbed multiple times in the body, and her husband was stabbed in the arm, near City Island Circle at City Island Road and Park Drive.
The husband, who was hospitalized in stable condition, told police that he and his wife were driving to City Island for dinner when they stopped in the area so he could urinate, the Daily News reported.
He told police that as he was going to the bathroom in some bushes, two men rode up on a scooter and tried to rob Contreras Linarez, who was back at the car. When she refused to comply, they reportedly stabbed her, and then him when he intervened.
The men fled on the scooter. No arrests had been reported as of Thursday.
