NEW YORK (1010 WIINS) -- The NYPD is investigating the critical injuries of a 34-year-old woman found bleeding from the head following an apparent assault in East Harlem late Thursday, officials said.
The victim was discovered just before midnight on East 105th Street near Second Avenue, police said.
She was rushed to Harlem Hospital with injuries considered to be life-threatening, according to authorities.
Police said the woman suffered blunt force trauma to the front and side of her skull.
After looking through the victim's phone, officers determined that she was just a few blocks away, on East 105th Street near the FDR Drive, about 10 minutes before they received the call, sources told the New York Post.
Blood was found on a guard rail by investigators at that location, according to the report.
Police have not released any further details on the incident or information on a suspect.
An investigation remains ongoing.
