NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A woman was punched and knocked to the ground by a man demanding money on the Lower East Side this week, police said.
The 57-year-old woman was approached by the man around 8:20 a.m. Thursday at the corner of Canal Street and Essex Street, according to police.
The man demanded money from the woman and then began punching her in the head, causing her to fall to the ground, police said.
The woman suffered injuries to her teeth and a laceration, bruising and swelling to her head, according to police.
The woman was not hospitalized, police said.
The NYPD released surveillance images of a suspect on Saturday.
