NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A man tried to rape a woman as she walked on an East Harlem street on Wednesday evening, police said Thursday as they released surveillance video of the suspect.
The 40-year-old woman was walking near E. 131 Street and the Harlem River Drive around 5:15 p.m. when the man came up and threw her to the ground, according to police.
The man then pulled down the woman's pants and tried to rape her, police said.
The woman struggled with the man and was able to break free of his grip, prompting the attacker to take off on foot, according to police.
The woman suffered a minor abrasion to her head and was taken by EMS to Mt. Sinai St. Luke's Hospital, where she was treated and released, police said.
