Woman sexually assaulted, robbed at knifepoint while jogging in Manhattan park

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A woman jogging in a Manhattan park Saturday morning was robbed and sexually assaulted, authorities said.

The 35-year-old victim was jogging inside of Fort Tryon Park near Henry Hudson Parkway and Tryon Place in Washington Heights around 10:50 a.m. when the incident happened, police said.

A man approached the victim and dragged her by her hair behind a tree before punching her in the face and taking out a knife, according to officials.

The suspect sexually assaulted her by using his fingers to penetrate her before stealing her watch and cellphone, both with a total value of $630, cops said. He fled on a motorized scooter.

Emergency workers transported the woman to a local hospital with injuries to her left eye, left arm and right leg. No arrests have been made and the investigation remains ongoing.

The attacker is described as having a dark complexion, about 20-30 years old, 6'1" tall with a slim build. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with white lettering on the back that reads 'Honor Thy Gift', black jeans and black and white sneakers.
