NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A woman was struck in East Harlem Friday by a hit-and-run driver who then abandoned their car, police said.

The victim, who is believed to be in her 40s, was struck as she entered the crosswalk at First Avenue and 115th Street just after 10 a.m.

Witnesses told police that she was thrown onto the driver's hood and crashed into the windshield of the red Dodge as she was hauled across the intersection before falling off, the Daily News reported.

The driver sped through three red lights before striking the woman, the witnesses added.

Police said the driver then drove off and left the car one block away on 116th Street.

The woman appeared to have returned from a grocery shopping run, according to the report, with police finding the victim's reusable shopping bag still sticking out of the hood and the roof covered in raw chicken parts.

The woman was rushed to an area hospital, and she is expected to survive.

No arrests have been made. An investigation is ongoing.
