NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – One woman was punched in the face and another was stabbed and slashed at subway stations in Queens and Brooklyn over a two-hour span on Wednesday morning, police said.

The first attack happened around 8:30 a.m. at the 75th Avenue Station in Forest Hills.

Police said a 21-year-old woman was on a southbound F train when a 29-year-old man approached her “acting erratically.”

The man punched the woman in the face in an unprovoked attack, police said. Her condition wasn’t immediately known.

Good Samaritans managed to hold the man down before officers arrived. Police said charges against him were pending.

About two hours later, a 60-year-old woman was stabbed and slashed at the Pennsylvania Avenue station in East New York, police said.

A man in his 20s got into an argument with the woman on the southbound 3-line platform before pulling a knife, according to police.

The man stabbed the woman in the back and slashed her shoulder, police said.

The woman was taken to Brookdale Hospital in an unknown condition. Her assailant remained on the loose after fleeing the station.

The assaults came as two other people were attacked at the Times Square subway station on Wednesday morning: an on-duty MTA worker was punched in the face and a man was slashed across the face over the course of about 90 minutes.

A spike in subway crime has renewed calls for more police and mental health experts in the transit system. Violent crimes in the system are up 82% in the last four weeks.
