NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Police released surveillance footage of a man wanted in an attempted rape that happened inside a Lower East Side subway station early Monday morning.

According to officials, at approximately 2:30 a.m., a 30-year-old woman was waiting on the platform for the northbound F train at the East Broadway subway station when the suspect approached her from behind.

The victim attempted to get away from the man by going up the escalator when he forcibly pulled the victim's pants down and attempted to rape her, cops said.

When the victim attempted to call police on her cellphone, the suspect grabbed the cellphone from her hand and threw it over the side of the escalator then fled on foot to parts unknown.

There were no physical injuries reported as a result of this incident.

The suspect is believed to be approximately 25 to 35 years old and was last seen wearing a white hooded sweatshirt, dark blue jeans, and white sneakers.
