NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Two of New York City’s mass vaccination sites will start operating on a 24/7 basis this week, with Johnson & Johnson doses set to be administered overnight, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Tuesday.
Yankee Stadium in the Bronx will start administering J&J vaccines between 8 p.m. and 7 a.m. each night starting Thursday, March 4, Cuomo said in a press release.
The Javits Center in Manhattan, meanwhile, will start administering J&J vaccines between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. on Friday, March 5.
New York state is set to receive around 164,800 J&J vaccine doses this week, the release said. The new overnight vaccine hours are part of a pilot program that will also roll out at the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse.
“The White House has made great progress securing additional Johnson & Johnson vaccines, and New York state will receive a large initial allocation of them to be administered over the next week,” Cuomo said in a statement. “The pilot program will maximize the initial doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine and get as many shots in arms as possible.”
Eligible Bronx residents who wish to set up an overnight appointment at Yankee Stadium can visit somosvaccinations.com or call 1-833-SOMOSNY starting at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 3, the governor said.
Eligible New Yorkers hoping to set up an appointment at the Javits Center, meanwhile, can use New York’s “Am I Eligible” website or call the state’s COVID-19 vaccination hotline at 1-833-NYS-4-VAX (1-833-697-4829) starting at 8 a.m. on Thursday, March 4, he added.
