Long Island boy, 5, pulled from pool in critical condition

EAST MORICHES, N.Y. (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A 5-year-old boy was hospitalized in critical condition after he was pulled from a pool at his home in Suffolk County, police said Thursday.

The boy's 44-year-old mother found him unresponsive in a pool at the family’s home on Woodcrest Drive in East Moriches around 4:35 p.m. Wednesday.

CPR was performed on him until first responders arrived and took over, police said.

He was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead and then transferred to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he was in critical condition.

Detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the near-drowning, police said.
