The officers were attacked shortly before 2 p.m. Tuesday as they responded to the Ramada by Wyndham on Sunrise Highway in Rockville Centre.
The father of the 20-year-old suspect, Marcellus Morris, called police to do a welfare check after Morris didn’t show up for a court appearance earlier in the day.
An emergency services unit made “several attempts” to contact Morris before breaching a door, police said.
Morris was “violent and combative” and “immediately started attacking officers” as they entered, according to police, who said all three cops suffered injuries as he resisted arrest.
Morris was eventually taken into custody and then to a hospital for an evaluation.
He faces three counts of second-degree assault, as well as charges of criminal mischief and obstructing governmental administration.
