BRIDGETON, N.J. (1010 WINS) — A man is facing charges after allegedly trafficking two women from Queens and using them to run a brothel out of a New Jersey home, according to the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office.
Moises Rodriguez-Martinez, 37, was arrested on Feb. 8 as a result of a one-month-long investigation into the alleged prostitution operation that investigators say he organized and oversaw at a home on East Avenue in Bridgeton.
He kept two adult women inside the home with the purpose of them performing paid sexual acts, and prosecutors allege that the women were trafficked from Queens.
Upon arrest, Rodriguez-Martinez was charged with human trafficking, promoting organized street crime and promoting prostitution. Two days later he was hit with a second human trafficking charge.
“Human trafficking is a form of modern day slavery which involves the exploitation of individuals to gain labor, services or commercial sex acts against their will,” Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae said in a statement.
Webb-McRae asked that anyone with information regarding this investigation or another act of human trafficking in the community contact Lt. Scott Csaszar at 453-0486 x 11112 or anonymously make a tip to CCPO.TIPS.
Prosecutors have filed a motion to detain Rodriguez-Martinez until his trial begins.
