
NEWARK, N.J. (1010 WINS) — An early morning car crash in New Jersey left four people dead and a fifth critically injured, authorities said.

The wreck happened around 4:15 a.m at Frelinghuysen Avenue and Evergreen Avenue in Newark, officials said.
The crash involved a tractor trailer and two cars. Four people who were reportedly trapped in the vehicles died from their injuries while the fifth person was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.
One of the victims was removed from a car wedged underneath the tractor trailer, according to the New York Post.
Sources also told the Post that investigators are looking into whether a high-speed car race contributed to the crash.
