TEANECK, N.J. (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — One man was killed and another was injured after a driver lost control of his car and crashed on I-80 in Bergen County early Saturday morning, according to the New Jersey State Police.

State troopers responded to the scene just after 3 a.m. near milepost 68 on I-80 in Teaneck Township.

A preliminary investigation showed that a man, identified as 40-year-old Julio Brito, was driving a Honda eastbound on I-80 when he lost directional control of the car. The Honda ran off the roadway to the right and crashed into a concrete barrier, police said.

Brito, of Hasbrouck Heights, was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries.

Authorities said that the Honda’s passenger, 38-year-old Richard Bahamonte of Hillside, sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
