NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A New Jersey couple were found dead in an apparent murder-suicide over the weekend, prosecutors announced on Monday.

New Jersey State Police Bridgeton Barracks Troopers responded to Roadstown Road in Hopewell Township at around 7:40 p.m. on Saturday.

Upon arrival, the troopers found a 52-year-old woman and a 53-year-old man deceased from apparent gunshot wounds. Cumberland Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae noted that the two were married.

Initial observations by law enforcement found that the husband shot the woman first and then shot himself.

Officials examined the crime scene searching inside the home and apartment and found no signs of forced entry or foul play by a third party, prosecutors said.

The names of the victims were not released due to the privacy prohibitions on releasing information related to domestic violence matters, officials said.
