Matthew Preziose, of Middletown, was still missing Monday—two days after officials said he disappeared while swimming off Lumaha’i Beach on the north shore of Kauai island.

Preziose was one of two swimmers who were in distress in the waters off the beach, near the Lumaha‘i River, around 1 p.m. Saturday, officials said.

While the second swimmer made it safely back to shore, Preziose was last seen being swept out to sea, according to officials.

Lifeguards, firefighters, police, the U.S. Coast Guard and other agencies launched a search of the area, including by water and air, on both Saturday and Sunday, officials said.

The search remained ongoing as of Monday, a U.S. Coast Guard spokesman in Honolulu confirmed to the New York Post. It was unclear if the search had resumed Tuesday; Kauai is five hours behind New York.

Preziose is 5 feet, 11 inches tall and was last seen wearing blue swim shorts. Anyone with information is asked to call the Kauai Police Department's dispatch center at (808) 241-1711.
