NORTH PLAINFIELD, N.J. (1010 WINS) -- A man accused of sexually assaulting a child in New Jersey was arrested at an Utah airport earlier this month, authorities said.

On Oct. 19, the North Plainfield Police Department notified the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office that a 9-year-old girl had reported that she had been sexually assaulted.


According to a statement from officials, 39-year-old Fabian Osuna-Vargas of North Plainfield, was accused of assaulting the girl earlier that day.

Investigators discovered that Osuna-Vargas had boarded a flight from Chicago to Salt Lake City on Oct. 21. He was arrested there by members of the Salt Lake City Police Department upon landing, the office said.

On Nov. 4, he was transported by Somerset County Prosecutor's detectives to Somerville and was taken to Somerset County Jail.
